How do I stop water running through my bathtub faucet and the shower head at the same time?

This is making it hard to take a hot shower. Warm water will run through the shower head and then through the faucet; making cold water then come through the shower head. Its a problem.

      Your diverter valve is bad, it needs to be replaced.

      yes your diverter valve is bad. call a plumber
