I need to remove a stubborn shower head to install a water filter?

Try a strap wrench.

The channel locks to saw one shower head and the head off it off it in 35 yrs ive changed shower arm with pair of channel locks which are adjustable open end pliers only had to secure it off it off it if you dont do it may.
