My shower head leaks water when I fill the bathtub. How can I fix this?

Angelica asked:
I just moved into a new place. A new shower head was installed in the bathroom before I moved in. But when I pull the knob to turn the water to the faucet, the faucet works but the water still streams from the shower head, splashing all over the bathroom. The knob to change the water from shower to faucet is a little metal knob you pull up on that is located on top of the faucet. How can I fix this?

The diverter is probably not opening fully. There could just be something caught in it, preventing the valve from it’s full travel, or it could just be defective. It sounds like one of the spout-mounted kind. If it is, you could just unscrew the spout and check the diverter visually to see what it’s doing. Those particular units are usually pretty inexpensive, so you could replace it without too much cost.

The screwon section of pipe where the actual lines where the head itself unscrew you need to buy what is coming out of pipe where the pipe coming out of pipe where the shower head itself yes on over the wall itself unscrew you.
